Kimberle brings diverse experience in marketing, resource development and event planning for both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. After graduating from Agnes Scott College, a renowned women's college in Decatur, Georgia, Kimberle followed her heart (a man) and moved to the Netherlands. There she began her career by launching a tour operator specializing in luxury vacation rentals in Florida. Her experience in the Dutch travel industry continued after her company was sold to a larger tour operator and she continued as product manager for the Florida division.

After the birth of her second child, Kimberle shifted her career focus to the non-profit arena. She spent the next two years as fundraising manager for the Dutch national office of Habitat for Humanity where she was responsible for all of Habitat's fundraising in the Netherlands. In addition to planning and administering a new donor acquisition campaign, Kimberle managed Habitat's direct mail campaigns to both new and current donors, oversaw creation of all campaign collateral and implemented and managed a telemarketing campaign. In her two years at Habitat, the donor base grew from just over 4,000 active donors to almost 10,000.

Kimberle moved back to Atlanta with her family and was hired by the YWCA Atlanta to initiate and implement an individual donor campaign. In her role at the YWCA, she coordinated individual donor communications, designed and implemented a donor acknowledgment program, and handled day-to-day donor management. She led the campaign for the YWCA's Academy of Women Achievers, a group of over 200 of Atlanta's most successful and prominent women, and was actively involved in the planning of the Salute to Women of Achievement Luncheon and Benefit, the YWCA's annual event to honor these women. Within two years at the YWCA, Kimberle increased individual giving to the organization by more than 40%.

Kimberle and her husband are both involved in the Dutch community in Atlanta, as Kimberle serves on the Board of de Molenwiek, a school for Dutch language and culture for children 2-12, and her husband is Honorary Consul of the Netherlands for Georgia and South Carolina. She and her husband are still active Habitat for Humanity Global Village volunteers and have plans to build many more homes in faraway lands.

Kimberle's favorite experiences and life lessons...

  • Spending 12 years in the Netherlands and becoming truly Dutch – living as the Dutch live and learning to speak Dutch without an accent.

  • Discovering that the best way to experience a foreign country is by working alongside locals to build a Habitat for Humanity home. So far, Kimberle has led a Dutch team to a South African township and co-led a weeklong blitz build of 75 Habitat homes with a group of over 300 Dutch volunteers in the Philippines.

  • After being far removed from so many issues in the US, returning to the South and becoming involved in an organization with a mission to empower women and eliminate racism. Finding another passion; rediscovering there is much work to be done.

  • Learning that the most significant way to help another person is sometimes the least visible, but often the most rewarding.

Kimberle is a creative organization and details mastermind. She manages special initiatives and serves as a liaison to DFMC, Inc.'s strategic partners and select clients.
